Wouldn’t the title above look
lovely on a book jacket? One can easily imagine Civil War buffs and libraries
lining up in droves to buy a copy. Or, looking at the number of articles below,
possibly Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Vol. 3. One can dream.
In the meantime, for a very reasonable copying fee, members of the State
Historical Society of Missouri can request photocopies of the articles below by
submitting a research request at
http://www.system.missouri.edu/shs/requestform.html.
A complete index of MHR for the same period, from which this subset was
researched, can be found at
http://www.system.missouri.edu/shs/mhr.html We’ve made the subset below
available on this page because I’ve often found myself searching through the
SHSM pages for just the one of these I was looking for, and thought it would be
nice to have them all on one page –their Civil War articles and nothing else.
The list is presented in two forms –by Author and by Volume/Issue. We added
“Topic” and “Side” as additional organizing principles; others are free to
disagree with our assignments. I haven’t read all of these myself yet, and
possibly missed an article or three by not properly interpreting the title.
